Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (TASHREEH) (2-1) - Speedy sort has been freshened up since July 2. He tired that afternoon at Belmont to finish fourth after setting a quick and pressured pace facing tougher. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin is 9 for 30 (30%) at the meet drops him to a new low and he draws the rail. Gets the edge.
2nd pick: #7 (Evolution) (5-2) - Another that's dropping down, he raced evenly here after a troubled break and wide trip facing first-level allowance foes July 24. In career best form prior to that and a win candidate this afternoon.
3rd pick: #4 (Steve's Image) (9-2) - He's one of two sophomores taking on older and mostly more experienced foes. New York bred chased and held down the show spot racing here at this level going 6.5 furlongs July 25. It was only his second start since coming off a half-year's absence in late May and his trainer (Carlos Martin) is having a solid meet (5 for 16).
4th pick: #6 (To the Victor) (8-1) - Colt moves up in class in his first following a Gary Contessa claim. Four-year-old rallied to finish a distant second here for a $14K tag July 27 in what was his second back from a three month layoff. He has some back class and should get a fast and/ or contested pace to close into.
