Stalker raced evenly here facing tougher July 23. 4yo 'bobbled,' was 'bumped' at the break, and was forced into a wide trip. Leading rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. stays aboard, and this gelding gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #8 (Boomerang Toy) (4-1) - The morning line and probable favorite, he has the best early speed and finished a pace-setting 2nd here at this level and distance July 25. Only his third lifetime start, it was his first in 11.5 months. An obvious win candidate at a short price.
3rd pick: #2 (Devilish Grin) (4-1) - NEW gelding is working fast for his first starts since Oct. 11th. He's the only horse entered with a local win, that coming in his maiden win in late July of last year.
4th pick: #4 (Elusive Talmo) (10-1) - He raced evenly here in the same last race as 'Boomerang Toy.' Almost five lengths behind that rival, I believe he could get a small slice of this at a square price.
