Top pick: #4 (UPSTART) (2-1) - Barn (Rick Violette Jr.) has done some fine work at this meet and had a debut winner just the other day. This son of "Flatter" has some impressive works on view on this surface including a pair of sharp recent back-to-back half-mile gate breezes. I like his chances first out.
2nd pick: #2 (Tizquick) (9-5) - Another trainer (John Kimmel) who had a recent debuting winner, this son of "Tiz Wonderful" was originally prepared off track, but has been at Saratoga since mid-July. Colt had a fine local 4-furlong gate breeze six days ago and looks ready for his first public appearance.
3rd pick: #5 (Bo Bob) (4-1) - He ships up from Gulfstream where he rallied to finish a distant second when debuting there going 4.5-furlongs on July 27th. He had a tough outside post that day and the effort was a solid one. Trainer Mike Yates ships him north to face fellow state-breds and brings him back quickly for his second start.
4th pick: #1 (Essence At Noon) (20-1) - Longshot has a bit of early speed and breaks from the rail. He debuted in a stakes and last out caught a sloppy surface. May have more talent than he's shown in his first pair.
