Premium Pick

Top pick: #3 (KING GETTIGAN) (7-2) - He's improved noticeably since being claimed by Gary Gullo in late March and has gone 4-0-2-2 since that time. One run type just missed (a "neck") at Belmont on July 12 at this level and distance and he should get a fast and/or contested pace to rally into.

2nd pick: #9 (Hampden Fiveone) (3-1) - Speedy sort draws a tough outside post, so he'll need to be sent hard by jockey John Velazquez to avoid a wide trip into the turn. He exits the same Belmont race as "Gettigan" and tired to finish third, almost 3 1/2 lengths back of that rival. His best makes him a threat.

3rd pick: #2 (Bryce Bryce Baby) (4-1) - Lightly raced gelding as bet down to 5-2 in the same last race as both "Gettigan" & "Hampden" and tired to finish fourth after setting a contested pace. It was his first start in five months and only the second of his career. Trainer John Kimmel has him making back-to-back starts for the first time and this gelding by "Golden Missile" should be involved from gate-to-wire.

4th pick: #5 (Mineral Water) (10-1) - He's showing some signs of improvement and last out finished a distant third to a "much the best" winner on June 20 at Belmont. No speed type will need a fast and/or contested pace for anything more than a minor award.
