Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #6 (TACITUS) (3-1) - His troubles in his last two starts are well documented. A son of 'Tapit', he would have won the Belmont Stakes (G1) by daylight if not for an extremely wide trip, then he stumbled badly at the start in the local Jim Dandy (G2) before missing by just under a length to today's rival 'Tax'. He's worked fast since, has blinkers on, and think he's set for a top effort.
nd pick: #2 (Code of Honor) (4-1) - I've always liked this colt and he enters off an impressive win in the G3 Dwyer Stakes going a mile at Belmont July 6. That followed a sharp third place finish in the Kentucky Derby (G1) May 4. Will Farsh home bred is working fast and is a strong win candidate.
rd pick: #7 (Mucho Gusto) (6-1) - From the barn of Bob Baffert, colt is very consistent 8-5-2-1 and enters off a solid second-place finish in Monmouth's Haskel Invitational (G1) July 20. He has a speed/stalking style and should have a clear front runner in 'Tax' to track off of. $625K purchase is in the win mix.
th pick: #12 (Tax) (6-1) - One of the best claims in recent years, he was taken by Dan Gargan for $50K last October. He's won over $700,000 since then and won the Jim Dandy (G2) here July 27, defeating a troubled 'Tacitus' by just under a length. Working very fast since, he can't be eliminated.
th pick: #1 (Owendale) (8-1) - Colt followed a close up third place finish in the Preakness (G1) May 18 with a win in the Ge Ohio Derby at Thistledown June 22, Strong finisher has a ground saving post and may get a share with a late rally.
