Racing second off a 5 1/2 month layoff he set a quick and pressured pace and held gamely to win in fast time for the mile (1:33.20). Six-year-old is undefeated (3-for-3) here at the Spa and his speed/stalking ability gives him the edge.
2nd pick: #10 (Front) (20-1) - Longshot is stretching out in distance off of a 7-week freshening. Son of "War Front" has more early speed than most and has done well at this trip in the past 5-2-1-1 when facing weaker. Has a shot at a big price.
3rd pick: #9 (Bio Pro) (12-1) - Since relocating from California this 6-year-old has gone 3-1-1-1 since joining the barn of "Hall of Fame" trainer Bill Mott. He's the third member of this field that has speed/stalking ability and enters in acceptable form.
4th pick: #5 (Legendary) (8-1) - English import is cutting back in distance after winning two straight at Belmont going 1 1/4 miles. Five-year-old was a useful performer in his native land but has improved noticeably since coming here and racing with Lasix added.
5th pick: #2 (Swift Warrior) (15-1) - Steady performer has an excellent record on the turf at 18-5-2-3 and has won his only previous local start. He has the rail and strong finisher would love a fast and/or contested pace to develop.
