Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (AKATEA) (6-1) - Irish bred is one of two entered by trainer Chris Clement and the pair race uncoupled. Lightly-raced 4-year-old was competitive racing in France against Group 1 and 2 males and defeated weaker at Belmont July 1. Only her second start since being imported, it was also her second back from a half-year's absence. Has a solid shot at a square price.
2nd pick: #10 (Zindaya) (3-1) - One of two from trainer Chad Brown, the pair run as separate betting interests. Very consistent speed/stalker is stretching out in distance after winning a $150K stakes going seven furlongs on the Belmont turf June 9. It earned her a career best figure and she's a very serious looking win candidate in a contest without much other pace signed on. I could have easily made her the top choice.
3rd pick: #1 (Roca Rojo) (7-2) - Lightly-raced and undefeated ( 3-for-3) Irish import score going seven furlongs at Belmont June 30. It was her first since being imported and first in 13 months. The figure earned last out was excellent and 4-year-old should be even sharper with that come-backer out of the way.
4th pick: #3 (Stormy Victoria) (6-1) - French bred filly is the second in the contest from trainer Chris Clement. No-speed type has won two of three since coming to No. America and getting back into action following an eight month layoff.
