It was her first in a claimer, she's worked four times since, and Irad Ortiz Jr stays aboard. I give this $150K purchase a slight edge.
2nd pick: #1 (Molly's Nighthawk) (5-1) - Filly has been competitive in two straight at this level since returning from a pair of long layoffs June 2. She's had problems at the break in each and gets a big rider upgrade to Junior Alvarado.
3rd pick: #2 (Memories Eternal) (9-2) - Blinkers go on this lightly raced filly who is dropping back down following a pair of even efforts facing tougher. Stretch runner has leading rider Luis Saez aboard for the first time and is dangerous.
4th pick: #11 (Big Expense) (5-1) - She has good early speed and will need to be sent hard from her marooned post. Sharp in two straight at this level, she can factor if able to avoid a wide trip.
5th pick: #4 (Pecatonia) (10-1) - A lightly raced home bred, she moves up in value after showing good early speed facing weaker June 27 at Belmont. Well backed in both attempts, it's a plus that Joel Rosario stays aboard.
