Top pick: #6 (RON THE GREEK) - He'd always hinted at ability, but has become one of the best horses in the country since switching to the barn of Bill Mott last November. He's gone (6-4-2-0) since then, and has won both the (G1) Santa Anita Hdcp. and the (G1) Stephen Foster at Churchill. Working well for this and 5-year-old is (8-2-3-1) at this demanding 9 furlong distance.
2nd pick: #7 (Flat Out) - He also comes from the barn of Bill Mott and the two veterans race uncoupled. Last year he finished second here in the 2011 running of this stakes, and a month later on this surface he again finished second, this time in the (G1) Woodward. Following a five month layoff earlier this year he finished second to today's rival "Rule" in a (G2) stakes at Monmouth and that should set him up for this.
3rd pick: #1 (Rule) - As mentioned above, he defeated "Flat Out" last out at Monmouth and that was his first race since early October. He's run well here in the past (3-1-1-1) and won the $75K Birdstone stakes on this surface at this trip exactly one year ago. Has the rail and should be involved from start to finish.
