Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (PROJECTED) (3-1) - English import rallied to finish second in a $150K stakes going a mile on the Belmont turf July 14. Six-year-old has a ground-saving post, is from the barn of leading trainer Chad Brown, and he finished second in this stakes a year ago to today's rival #9 'Zennor'.
2nd pick: #2 (Blacktype) (6-1) - French import always brings his best and he has more natural speed than the other main contenders. He draws a good post, enters off a win at Belmont going a mile July 5, and the 7yo should be involved every step.
3rd pick: #3 (Inspector Lynley) (7-2) - Strong finisher ships from Kentucky where he rallied to finish second in a G2 stakes at this distance June 16 at Churchill Downs. He won a stakes here back in 2016 and he would love a fast/and or contested pace to close into.
4th pick: #9 (Zennor) (4-1) - As mentioned in the above write-up for 'Projected', this lightly raced 6yo won this stakes a year ago. However, he hasn't run since and gives away a big recency edge to the other selections. The gelding has raced well off of layoffs in the past, but none of this length. Tough call.
