Top pick: #2 (STEPHANIE'S KITTEN) (7-2) - One of two entered by trainer Chad Brown, and the pair race uncoupled. Veteran mare rallied to miss by a 'neck' in this rich stakes a year ago and is racing second back off a pair of layoffs. An eight-time winner on the grass, strong finisher is 5-2-1-1 at this demanding distance. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (Hard Not To Like) (5-1) - Very consistent grey mare has been freshened up since rallying to win the rich G1 Gamely Stakes in late May at Santa Anita. That ran her record on the turf to 16-7-2-2, and her stalking style should play well in this spot. Dangerous.
3rd pick: #1 (Tepin) (3-1) - Lightly raced filly has really stepped up her overall game during the past year. Speed/stalker is a perfect 3-for-3 this year, and last out became a G1 winner when she took the "Just a Game Stakes" at Belmont June 6. She has the rail and should be involved from start-to-finish.
4th pick: #3 (Kitten's Queen) (10-1) - The second of the Chad Brown fillies, she has good early speed and is very consistent facing weaker. She may be in here to insure a fast pace for stable-mate 'Stephanie's Kitten' to rally into. Might last for a minor award.
