Top pick: #5 (JOLENE) (7-2) - Like many entered in today's finale, she's lightly raced and well bred. $265K daughter of "Malibu Moon" has been competitive in both starts to date, and last out was beaten 1 1/2 lengths at Belmont in her first grass attempt. Working well since, trainer Graham Motion has her set for a big effort.
2nd pick: #4 (Knotty Pine) (4-1) - Speedy English bred is clearly improving, and last out she held gamely to finish second at Belmont in the same June 22 as "Jolene." Filly was a "nose" better that that rival and is a win candidate in this spot.
3rd pick: #7 (Forensic) (3-1) - Janney home bred has gone 3-0-1-2 on the grass to date, and stalker comes off a strong try at Belmont on June 15. Daughter of "Medaglia d'Oro" must be left in the win mix.
4th pick: #8 (Giant's Jewel) (8-1) - The field's most experienced maiden, she's gone 15-0-4-3 on the grass and is 3-0-2-1 locally. Veteran just missed last out at Belmont and is racing third back from a 6 1/2 month layoff.
5th pick: #3 (Illapa) (15-1) - Longshot stretches out in distance after a wide & even effort sprinting on the Belmont lawn at this level on July 3. It was her first since late Sept., and trainer Nick Zito brings her back quickly and adds blinkers.
