Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (MINE THE COIN) (3-1) - A lightly raced and well bred NEW gelding, this $300,000 3yo by 'Speightstown' is racing for the first time since Feb. 10. He's been working steadily here since May 23 and has a half-dozen published drills on the local training track. Trainer George Weaver has him in a low level claimer, and he wins at a 29% clip on the drop down. I think he has this one sitting on a big effort.
nd pick: #3 (Exchequer) (5-1) - He's one of a pair entered by trainer Dan Gargan, and they race as separate betting interests. This grey colt is dropping to a new low in his second back following a two-month break, and Gargan is adding both blinkers and Irad Ortiz, Jr.
rd pick: #4 (Pickle Rick) (6-1) - The second of the two from the barn of Dan Gargan, this speedy gelding missed by a 1/2-length at this tag going 5.5 furlongs on a sloppy track June 21 at Belmont. It was his first in a claimer, and he should be in this from gate-to-wire as he stretches back out in distance.
th pick: #6 (Wicked Trick) (6-1) - He's one of a pair of 4yos entered, and he finished 2nd going a mile for a $30K tag at Philly Park in an 'off the turf' contest June 18. This gelding has a flexible style and is capable of factoring here at a square price.
th pick: #12 (Zorbed) (5-1) - A $325,000 3yo by 'Orb,' he's dropping to a new low following a pair of tiring efforts facing tougher going longer at Belmont. This gelding draws a fine outside post and enters off a pair of well above average local half-mile breezes.
