'A Marked Man' switches from turf to dirt for his first since July 9. Since dropping into claimers, this 4-year-old has gone 5-0-2-3, all for a $40K tag. One-run type drops to a new low and he's finished 2nd in 2 of 3 on the dirt. "Dusk to Dawn' is clearly the main speed and is dropping to a new low, switching back to the dirt, and shortening up in distance. I'll take either as the top pick.
2nd pick: #3 (Hundred Percent) (5-1) - He was sent hard from an inside post here and tired to finish a distant fourth facing a bit tougher July 27. It was his first in seven weeks and he should move forward of it. In his only previous race at this tag he finished second, beaten less than a length at Aqueduct this past March.
3rd pick: #4 (Rich Dalone) (3-1) - NEW gelding races for the first time since late April. He has early speed, is working steadily, and has taken serious betting action in all seven starts. Very dangerous if ready.
4th pick: #9 (The Fixer) (12-1) - Long shot is another that's lightly raced and comes off a good effort here at this level Aug 6. Racing off a two month break, he rallied to finish 4th of 11, beaten just over 4-lengths. May grab a share at a big price.
5th pick: #6 (Sunny Afternoon) (20-1) - Not a strong win candidate, 3-year-old drops in class, goes turf to dirt, and cuts back in distance. Long shot is just a bit light on figures, but is capable of getting a piece of this if he can transfer his grass form to the main track.
