Both were for a $75,000 claiming tag and she was beaten a 'nose' and a 'head'. She's moving up in class but is working very fast for her return and gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #1 (Assertive) (2-1) - From the barn of Todd Pletcher, he now has a two win margin over Chad Brown for leading trainer honors at this prestigious meet. This speed/stalker set a quick pace and held gamely to finish a close up third at this level going 7 furlongs July 14 at Belmont Park. It was her first ever on the turf and she's an obvious win candidate in today's finale.
3rd pick: #7 (Remarqued) (5-1) - Filly by 'Blame' cost $350,000 as a yearling here back in August of 2015. She raced evenly following a stumbling start here July 29 in her first back following a two month freshening. Can factor at a square price with an alert beginning.
4th pick: #3 (Misericordia) (12-1) - Lightly-raced filly was bred in England and is by a top sire over-seas 'Dansili.' She's been competitive in her first pair and in one she rallied from behind and in the other was the pace-setter. Think she can be in this at the wire at long odds.
