Top pick: #1 (SHORTCOMING) (4-1) - He comes into this off a career best when he finished third here at this tag and trip July 21st. Gelding by "Medaglia d'Oro" had a very wide trip that and this afternoon he breaks from the rail. I like his chances.
nd pick: #8 (Won'tualwayswonder) (3-1) - The probable favorite, Ramsey home-bred ships in from Churchill where he finished third as a heavy favorite in an "off the turf" contest racing for a $40K tag June 27th. Drops to a new low today and this lightly-raced gelding is a strong win candidate.
rd pick: #5 (Professor Chaos) (12-1) - Longshot comes off a good effort here facing state-bred special weights on July 28th. He raced very wide after breaking from a tough outside post and rallied to finish 5th of 12, beaten just under 5 lengths. Drops, has a better draw, and can factor at a big price.
th pick: #2 (Maravitz) (7-2) - Beautifully-bred colt raced evenly when debuting at Belmont for a $420K tag June 29th. Formerly in the Pletcher barn, he was claimed that day by Dave Jacobson (27% off the claim), and he'll add blinkers off almost a six week freshening.
th pick: #6 (Sunnyinseabrook) (20-1) - He tends to race evenly and last out finished fourth here while three back of "Shortcoming." It was a career best and he could grab a minor award at long odds with a bit of improvement.
