Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #6 (TIZ NO BLUFF) (5-1) - A lightly raced 7yo by 'Tiznow', he was an easy winner at Belmont June 12 going 8.5 furlongs fora $16,000 price tag. Gelding cleared the 2l condition that afternoon in his second back from a 2.5 month layoff and is nicely spotted today by Michelle Nevin.
2nd pick: #2 (Armamaent) (3-1) - A NEW gelding, this once much classier 5yo is taking a big drop in class for his first since April 5. He showed little that afternoon at Oaklawn Park facing $50K claimers, but had won his previous start there in gate-to-wire style Feb 28. He runs first off a private trainer change to Gary Gullo (a 19% angle) and is a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Real Dan) (7-2) - A very lightly raced 4yo from the Pletcher barn, this gelding by 'Flatter' has won two of four starts. New York bred drops in class while moving in with 'open' company for this attempt. The type that can 'run all day' without tiring, he'll have no trouble handling this 10.5 furlong trip and a fast and/or contested pace would help his rallying style out.
4th pick: #5 (Fed Fever) (12-1) - Longshot ships from Monmouth where he defeated much weaker going a mile for a $7,500 tag June 15. The figure earned was o.k and the field's lone 3yo has more early speed than most. Think he may hold down a minor award at a square price.
