(# 7) MIDNIGHT EXCESS - Very nice debut effort at Del Mar on Sep. 5. Broke from the rail in a large field (11), made a big middle move, got the lead in mid-stretch, and was out-gamed at the wire. Given a month between starts, he has three strong works in the interim over this new surface.

(# 8) Skimmetry - Frankel-trained colt made his debut in the same race as the top selection. Chased the pace from his inside post, and ran evenly through the stretch. Three works since for him also, but they are at his homebase of Hollywood Park.

(# 14) Warren's Scooter - Has run well over the Del Mar poly surface, and conventional dirt at Fairplex. Draws an excellent post for the seven-furlong distance, and attracts Nakatani today. He and trainer Gutierrez are 28% over the past two years.

(#'s 1 and 3) Da Benchy and Monastery Scandal - Would use this pair in small exacta boxes with the top selection.
