Top pick: #1 (DHAAMER) - Lightly-raced Irish-bred gelding spent the first 10 starts of his career racing in England and showed some talent while clearly better as the distances got longer. In a top barn (John Gosden) over-seas, he was sent to California last fall and joined the stable of Mike Mitchell. 5-year-old just missed in the (G3) Tokyo City stakes going 12 furlongs on the dirt March 24th, his first in this country and first since Oct. 12. Moves back to the grass today and this demanding 14-furlong trip is right up his alley.
2nd pick: #2 (Bourbon Bay) - Another who can seemingly "run all day", this gelding comes off a come from behind win going 1 1/2 miles on the local turf March 25th in the San Luis Rey (G2). 6-year-old by "Sligo Bay" is 6-for-8 on this surface and only 2-for-17 on all others, so you can see that he loves the local lawn. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Eagle Poise) - His career has been broken up many times by layoffs, but he seems to be over that now and he won a stakes in early December at this 14-furlong trip racing on the Woodbine "poly". Never gets tired and he was working nicely before being sent here by trainer Graham Motion. Alex Solis, a former regular in So. California is in for the mount.
