Top pick: #6 (MR. COMMONS) - Lightly-raced colt by turf champion "Artie Schiller" has plenty of talent, is lightly raced and still improving. Nicely managed by trainer John Shirreffs, colt is (3-2-1-0) on the grass and won an allowance here at this trip in late Feb. Three-year-old was beaten a nose last out by the much more seasoned "Carocortado" in the G2 Del Mar Mile in a very strong effort and overall was his best yet. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #8 (Calimonco) - Exits the same lasr race as "Commons" and he was only a 1/2 length back of that rival on the wire. Much improved since a trainer change to John Sadler and this 5-year-old by "Storm Cat" is a stretch threat this afternoon.
3rd pick: #3 (John Johny Jak) - Very consistent speed/stalker has a fine overall grass record (10-5-3-0) and in his last five he is (3-2-0). Working well for this, and Cal-bred stakes winner will sneak away at a fair price.
