2nd pick: #3 (Retro) (3-1) - Lightly raced daughter of 'Giant's Causeway' has been sharp in both starts, and each have been at this mile distance. Stretch runner rallied to check in a close up 3rd in a $100K stakes at Del Mar Oct. 9 and has steady works showing for trainer Rick Mandella. It's noted that Mike Smith is aboard for the first time.
3rd pick: #7 (Silken Spy) (8-1) - Daughter of 'The Factor' moves way up in class while stretching out in distance for her first facing winners. A sharp maiden winner going five furlongs at Del Mar Nov. 16, she's clearly improving, and is bred to like this longer trip.
4th pick: #9 (One Fast Broad) (7-2) - A two time stakes winner facing fellow Cal breds, she's also been sharp in a pair of stakes facing 'open' company. Only a 1/2-length in back of 'Retro' Oct. 9, she must be left in the mix here.
5th pick: #10 (Ippodamia's Girl) (4-1) - Speedy filly is another facing winners for the first time. She broke her maiden at this distance Nov. 25 at Del Mar and has improved noticeably since coming off an eight-week break and stretching out in distance Oct. 21.
