Top pick: #4 (K EIGHT THIRTY) (5-2) - Gelding showed excellent early speed and fought on gamely to finish third when debuting here at this level and distance on Feb. 16. He was behind today's rival "Whine for Wine" in that contest but has an early speed advantage.
2nd pick: #3 (Whine for Wine ) (2-1) - As mentioned above, he finished a bit over a length better than "K Eight Thirty" last out and did so with a stretch rally. He's worked fine since, it's Bejarano riding for Hollendorfer (35%), and 3-year-old is an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Masochistic) (6-1) - One of three making their debuts, 4-year-old has some sharp works on view and drilled this distance here on March 6th in 1:11 flat. Very dangerous if he can repeat it in "live' action.
4th pick: #5 (Next Book) (6-1) - Gelding rallied into a fast pace and missed by a "head" when debuting at Hollywood on Dec. 20 at this trip facing $30K "open" maidens. Freshened up since, he's in with fellow Cal.-breds and trainer Marty Jones wins at a 32% rate second time out.
