2nd pick: #2 (Kobe's Back) (5-2) - Veteran ships back from Churchill Downs where he finished a fast closing third in the Churchill Downs Stakes (G2) at this distance May 7. He loves it at Santa Anita 6-3-2-0 and has always been at his best at this seven-furlong trip. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Lord Nelson) (3-1) - Lightly-raced and talented, he was a sharp winner here when facing weaker going six furlongs June 3. It was only his second start since coming of an eight month layoff in late December and he appears to be headed back in the right direction. Must be left in the mix.
