Top pick: #1 (CANDY BOY) (5-2) - He closed out a solid 2-year-old campaign with a fine second-place finish at Hollywood Park in G1 "Cash Call Futurity" on Dec. 14 and had improved in every start since debuting on Aug. 17. Has the rail, is working fast locally, and I like his chances.
2nd pick: #3 (Midnight Hawk) (9-5) - One of two undefeated colts from the Bob Baffert barn and both are two for two. Grey son of "Midnight Lute" was an impressive winner here on Jan. 11 in the G3 "Sham" stakes and is an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Diamond Bachelor) (6-1) - Price play is working fast for his first since a very wide trip in the "Breeders' Cup Juvenile" (G1) here Nov. 2. Has talent and his recent AM drills are impressive.
4th pick: #7 (Chitu) (7-2) - The second of the Baffert pair, he's two-for-two and will be stretching out after a solid score here going 6-furlongs over weaker on Dec. 27.
