Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #4 (BOTTLE ROCKET) (7-2) - One-run type raced both wide and evenly when beaten 3.5 lengths here at this trip in the G3 Eddie d Stakes Sept. 30. It was his first since Aug. 10 when he was claimed for $62,500 by trainer Jeff Mullins. Nicely spotted today, he drops in class and runs of a bullet half-mile work Oct 11.
2nd pick: #1 (MoonlightDrive) (3-1) - One of a pair of 3-year-olds entered, Italian import has been freshened up since being beaten 3.5 lengths in the rich G2 Del Mar Derby Sept. 4. He's working well above average and is dropping in class while shortening up in distance. A very strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #8 (Eric the Trojan) (8-1) - The field's other sophomore, no-speed type was 2.5 lengths in back of 'Bottle Rocket' here Sept. 30. He had been much sharper in his previous pair sprinting on the Del Mar turf and is a stretch factor at a square price.
