This 3-year-old chased while wide before tiring to finish fourth at this claiming price going six furlongs on the dirt April 15. It was his first since coming from Gulfstream Park where he was very sharp in a pair of grass sprints during the month of February. Working fast and he's back on the turf this afternoon.
2nd pick: #9 (Rafter One) (9-2) - Colt is dropping into a claimer for the first time and moves back to the turf. Competitive in all three starts facing tougher, he finished a close up fourth at this trip on the grass March 2. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Blame Joe) (7-2) - The second of the Peter Miller pair, he's been on the sidelines since Dec. 31 and returns a NEW gelding. Sharp in his only previous grass race, he's another dipping into the claiming ranks for the first time.
4th pick: #10 (Milhaud) (5-1) - Very lightly-raced 5-year-old set the pace before tiring to finish a distant third at this trip in a contest that was moved 'off the turf' May 7. It was his first race in 26.5 months and he should move forward of of it.
5th pick: #7 (Iwobi) (15-1) - Longshot is another dropping in class and does so with blinkers on. Well bred colt raced evenly here March 23 at this trip facing tougher and this $150,000 purchase may grab a minor share at a big price.
