Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (MERNEITH) (7-5) - One of a pair entered by Bob Baffert, this $600,000 daughter of 'Pioneer of the Nile' has finished 2nd in both starts. She missed by a length debuting here going six furlongs Jan. 20, then lost by a 'nose' traveling a mile Feb. 23. Barn cuts her back to a sprint, has Mike Smith aboard, and I believe this filly's only serious rival is her barn-mate.
2nd pick: #1 (As Time Goes By) (5-2) - The second of the Baffert fillies, she's working fast for her first attempt, and her trainer has won with 21 of 73 (29%) first-time-starters since Jan. 1 of 2019. She has the rail, and I believe she's the only danger to her barn-mate.
3rd pick: #3 (Little Miss Moppet) (15-1) - A 4yo filly by 'Uncle Mo,' she cost $400,000 as a 2yo in training back in March of 2018. She tired here sprinting on the grass in her belated debut, and trainer Peter Miller (26% second time out) switches her to the dirt (18%).
4th pick: #4 (Saving Sophie) (5-1) - She moves back to the dirt while shortening up in distance following a pair of disappointing starts on the grass going two-turns. She's finished 2nd in all three attempts on dirt and should grab a share in this spot.
