Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (THERE AND BACK) (5-2) - One of five making their debuts, this colt sold for $400,000 as a 2yo in training back in the first part of 2017. Son of 'First Dude' has some extremely fast works on view and is from the barn of Bob Baffert (34% first out). The only 'Triple Crown' nominee in this eight horse field, he draws a tricky inside post, but can win this with an alert beginning.
2nd pick: #3 (He's Stylish) (7-2) - Away since Nov. 23, home bred son of 'Candy Ride' finished 2nd when debuting in a very strong sprint at this level Oct. 28. Stretched out to a mile next out, he rallied to finish 3rd after a heavy stumble at the break. Colt worked a bullet five furlongs from the gate here in :59 flat May 27, and it was the fastest of 58 to train at that distance. Blinkers go on and he's a very strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Bahamian) (3-1) - On the sidelines since Nov. 4, he was never involved that day when over-matched in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) at Del Mar. The last time he faced fellow maidens, he finished 2nd to the late 'Solomini' at this level and distance Sept. 2. He has a fine series of work showing and is a threat if ready.
4th pick: #6 (Belden Avenue) (15-1) - Longshot made up some ground when debuting here going 6.5 furlongs on the grass April 28. He has a new trainer (Ron Ellis), who is switching him to the dirt. Training steadily, Bajarano is aboard and this $250,000 son of 'Candy Ride' may get a minor award at a very big price.
