Top pick: #3 (YANA) (3-1) - Home-bred daughter of "Bertrando" has finished second in both her starts, once here when debuting in late Sept., and the other at Hollywood Park three weeks later. Heavily bet in each, trainer Bill Spawr has her working fast for her return to action, and she's the horse to beat.
nd pick: #11 (Capers and Wine) (7-2) - Speedy sort has gone 3-0-2-1 so far, and has raced once each on dirt, turf, & "poly." She enters off a pace-setting second place finish on the Hollywood lawn on Dec. 21st, and should be involved in the running from start-to-finish. Win candidate.
rd pick: #5 (More Complexity) (10-1) - Price play exits the same Dec. 21st turf contest as "Capers" and finished a strong third, only a 1/2 length back of that filly. This will be her first on real dirt, and Reddam home-bred can factor if she takes to it.
th pick: #4 (Cause U R My Babe) (8-1) - Away very poorly here on Dec. 29th, she did well to finish fourth of seven, beaten almost five lengths. It was her first in almost 5 1/2 months, first on real dirt, and first with lasix. The Puype barn brings her back quickly, and Bejarano gets aboard for the first time. Interesting.
th pick: #1 (Wired for Fun) (6-1) - One run type has finished second in five of her nine starts, the latest coming here on Dec. 29th in her second off almost a three month freshening. Working fine, and she has the rail. Stretch threat.
