Top pick: #8 (DEL MAR SUNSET) (7-5) - The probable favorite, he's one of two entered by the Baffert barn and had an impressive debut here on Jan 13th. $230K son of "Candy Ride" was involved from start-to-finish while racing wide and finished 3rd of 8, beaten a 1/2 length. Effort was complimented when the horse that finished 2nd broke his maiden next out. Working fast for this and much the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (Okaad) (5-1) - The 2nd of the Baffert pair, son of "Cherokee Run" finished an even 4th when debuting here on Jan 27th. He's worked twice since(both above average), Bejarano stays aboard, and barn wins at a 26% clip 2nd time out.
3rd pick: #2 (Saint Prado) (6-1) - He hasn't raced since last June when he ran 2nd in his debut, then finished 3rd in a small stakes, both on the Golden Gate "poly". Colt is in a winning barn (Jeff Bonde) and is training steadily for his return.
4th pick: #1 (Cast a Vision) (12-1) - Kentucky-bred made his first two starts in England and showed an improved effort in his 2nd appearance. Well-bred colt hasn't run since late Sep and will have lasix added for his first off the layoff and first on real dirt.
