Top pick: #1 (CREATIVE CAUSE) - He showed plenty of talent last year as a 2-year-old and after winning the Norfolk Stakes (G1) on this surface on Oct. 1, he was only beaten a length by 2-year-old champ Hansel and the talented "Union Rags" when he finished third in the $1,000,000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) Nov. 5 at Churchill. Grey colt by "Giant's Causeway" finished third here going 7 furlongs in his seasonal debut on Feb 19th in the San Vicente Stakes (G2), then rallied strongly to win the San Felipe (G2) on March 10th. Training nicely for this and he draws the rail.
2nd pick: #8 (Midnight Transfer) - He rallied strongly and levelled off in the last 1/16th to finish third, beaten 3 lengths by "Creative Cause" last out. Effort was his first around two-turns and he's been working very fast since.
3rd pick: #3 (Holy Candy) - Lightly raced and improving grey son of "Candy Ride" was an impressive maiden winner here on March 23rd and will take a big step up today in his first facing winners. Strong finisher should get a solid pace to rally into.
4th pick: #6 (Paynter) - Reported to be a runner before his debut, this son of "Awesome Again" didn't disappoint his backers when he was an easy winner at odds of 2-5 winning here on Feb. 18. Training bullets for this, we'll find out a lot more about the talent level of this Baffert trained colt today.
