Speedy sort tired to finish 3rd at Los Alamitos at this distance April 30. He pressed a quick pace while widest and held until the final 1/16th of a mile. It was his first start since a near miss at Del Mar Aug. 1st, and he's worked four times following that comeback attempt. Looks set.
2nd pick: #1 (Worldwide) (5-2) - Colt has been sharp in all five starts, and last out missed by a 'head' here when he dropped down to this $50,000 claiming price for the first time. Son of 'Big Brown' has the rail and is a serious threat.
3rd pick: #8 (Skookum Spirit) (5-1) - He has some speed and is dropping in class, switching from turf to dirt, and is shortening up in distance. Tommy Town home bred draws outside of the other speed, and that's to his advantage.
4th pick: #5 (Royal Privacy) (6-1) - He comes off a useful debut at this tag and trip April 30 at Los Alamitos. Home bred stalked early, made a bid at the 1/4 pole, then held down the place spot to a 'much the best' winner. He needs to step it up as the top three selections all are more likely to emerge victorious.
