One of those came at this demanding nine-furlong trip, and he'll be tough in this spot.
2nd pick: #7 (Van Cortlandt) (8-1) - Longshot did not have the best of trips here Jan. 28 when finishing three lengths in back of 'Panama Papers.' He's racing second back off a three-month break and should love this longer distance.
3rd pick: #6 (Pacific Surf) (5-1) - Speedy sort was only a 1/2-length behind 'Panama Papers' Jan. 1, then tired to to finish in back of both that rival and 'Van Cortlandt' Jan. 28. He's worked three times since and gets a rider upgrade to Tyler Baze.
4th pick: #3 (Lifeline) (3-1) - One of three making their debuts, he's one of two from trainer Rick Mandella. This home-bred by 'Tapit' has worked here six times since Jan. 4 and many of the drills are well above average. Bred for both the turf and this distance, he has leading rider Flavien Prat aboard.
