Top pick: #6 (OIL) (7-2) - He's racing first off a Pete Miller claim and the new trainer makes a trio of important changes. Claimed for $20K on Feb 27, four-year-old missed by a 'nose' here that afternoon. Miller had him gelded on March 6th, he adds blinkers, and moves him way up in class. Working fast and I like his chances.
nd pick: #11 (Ultimate Lick) (4-1) - Colt hasn't seen action since finishing third at this level when debuting on the Del Mar 'poly' on Sept. 1. Working very fast at Los Alamitos and a strong win candidate.
rd pick: #4 (Rule He Will) (5-1) - Speedy 4-year-old ships down from Golden Gate Fields where he finished a pace-setting second on March 5th. He has a new trainer (Mark Glatt 22% with new arrivals) and a pair of sharp recent works on the local dirt.
th pick: #2 (London Legacy) (8-1) - Grey gelding finished an even fourth here at this level and distance March 8th. It was his first since July 30th and he should move forward in his second off the long absence. It's a plus that Bejarano stays aboard.
th pick: #7 (Sam Slick) (4-1) - He cost less than an old used car ($2500), but has already earned $21K by going 3-0-1-2. He chased and held down the place spot here March 13th and should factor again with a repeat of that effort.
