Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (SHINING THROUGH) (9-2) - Price play has been competitive in all four starts since switching to the grass. Stalker broke his maiden here at this distance Jan. 19. Then, following a 2.5-month freshening, he missed by a 'nose' to this afternoon's rival 'Rijeka' at the same trip April 4. I believe this $200K son of 'Malibu Moon' has a good shot at a square price.
2nd pick: #1 (Rijeka) (7-2) - As mentioned above, this Irish import was a nose in front of 'Shining Through' here at this distance April 4. He's been competitive in six of seven overall on the grass since being imported last summer. Gelding has a ground saving post and is an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Neptune's Storm) (4-1) - Freshened up since March 2, he runs today following a private trainer change to Rich Baltas (15% with new arrivals in 2018-19). This gelding by 'Stormy Atlantic' has been very sharp in his last three on the grass and is two for three on the local turf at this one mile distance. He's in the win mix.
4th pick: #5 (King of Speed) (3-1) - No speed type ships back from Golden Gate Fields where he tired badly on the Tapeta surface there in a $100K stakes Feb. 16. He won two stakes last year at this distance, one here and the other at Del Mar, and is an obvious threat as he moves back to the lawn.
