Top pick: #6 (VOLUME) (7-2) - Well bred colt rallied after a 'bobbling' start to just miss here at this level and distance April 17. Only his second start, he showed big improvement over his debut. Working well since, and son of 'Blame' is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #11 (Iron Fist) (3-1) - He's been competitive in all four starts and has done so despite breaking slowly in three of those. Working very fast for this, he stretches out after missing by a 1/2 length going 6.5-furlongs May 2. A strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Rosicky) (4-1) - Son of 'Flatter' has finished second in both starts, the latest coming at this distance April 30. Trainer Carla Gaines adds blinkers and Bejarano stays aboard.
4th pick: #2 (Nob Hill) (8-1) - One of two entered by trainer Bob Baffert, and both will be big prices. This colt has no early speed, but has made up a lot of ground in three straight. The faster the pace, the better his chances.
5th pick: #5 (Bollywood) (12-1) - The second of the Baffert pair, he's training fast for his first start since early Oct. Colt cost $700K and was heavily backed in his debut run. Don't just ignore him.
