It was his first since July 28, by far a career best, and he's making back-to-back starts for the first time. I believe he'll like this nine-furlong trip, and he can break his maiden in this spot.
2nd pick: #7 (Aussie Fox) (7-2) - He enters off a wide 4th place finish here at this tag and trip April 7. 5yo had a tough outside post that day, draws better here, and he ran 2nd in his only previous attempt at this demanding nine-furlong distance here Jan. 5.
3rd pick: #1 (Indoctrination) (5-2) - The morning line and probable favorite, he's finished 2nd both starts for this $50,000 claiming price and last out was a bit over a length in front of 'Aussie Fox' going a mile April 7. Irish import has a ground saving post and has checked in 2nd in both starts in the past at this 1 1/8th mile distance. An obvious contender.
4th pick: #5 (Boru) (9-2) - A NEW gelding, this $450,000 4yo by 'Curlin' hasn't raced since May 24 of 2018. He ran 2nd that day going 8.5 furlongs at this level on the Churchill turf. He began his career with Todd Pletcher and races today off of a trainer switch to Vlad Cerin (16% with new arrivals and 24% off on long layoffs).
