Top pick: #3 (HANSERELLA) (8-5) - The probable favorite, veteran mare comes off a pair of sharp efforts at this level and they both were against tougher fields than this. Speed/stalker stretches back out to her best distance (5-1-2-0) and she's the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #7 (Backintheacademy) (2-1) - She tired last out after being involved in a pace-fight through fast fractions. Much better from a stalking spot, she'd gone 3-0-2-1 in her previous trio and is a threat with her best.
3rd pick: #5 (Clearly Annointed) (6-1) - Even-paced type has been somewhat competitive in her last pair, but was five back of both "Hanserella" and "Backintheacademy" the last time they met. Capable of impacting, but she needs to do better late.
4th pick: #1 (Contessa B) (9-2) - Lightly-raced filly broke her maiden when debuting on the Keeneland "poly" April 25th racing for a $50K tag. Claimed that day by Bob Hess Jr., she raced evenly on the Churchill grass on May 16th for her first for the new barn. She makes her first West Coast appearance and is a threat with her best.
