Top pick: #6 (WRITER FEVER) (5-2) - Home-bred by "Stormin Fever" enters off a career best when she finished fifth of 11, beaten just under four lengths sprinting on the Hollywood turf facing Cal-bred special weights on Dec. 21st. Trainer Ron Ellis has worked her twice since, moves her to the dirt, and has her take the big drop into maiden claimers for the first time.
2nd pick: #2 (She's Flush) (6-1) - Filly has done her best work on this surface (3-0-2-1), and ran third here while racing wide facing tougher on Dec. 28th. Speed/stalker draws a nice post and should be in this from gate-to-wire.
3rd pick: #5 (Roman Express) (20-1) - Away slowly when debuting here facing tougher Dec. 29th, she tired badly after rushing up following the poor break. Daughter of "Roman Ruler" is brought back in four weeks, has worked twice, and takes the same drop as "Fever."
4th pick: #4 (Top Pegasus) (6-1) - She was "pulled up" when away slowly debuting at a mile on the Hollywood grass on Dec. 14th. Daughter of "Fusaichi Pegasus" took some money that afternoon, and probably has much more talent than shown that day.
