Colt stretches out after finishing fourth when debuting here in a sprint at this level Jan. 8. He had to race between horses most of the way and that can take the starch out of even an experienced runner. Trainer Mark Glatt is having a strong meet and has won at a 23% clip over the past 13.5 months when stretching his stock out in distance.
2nd pick: #1 (Sea's Journey) (5-1) - He exits the same Jan 8 sprint as 'I Can Do This.' Gelding rallied mildly to finish third, a 1/2 length in front of that rival. Trainer Mike Puype has worked him four times since and this stretching out gelding has the rail.
3rd pick: #5 (Dr. Troutman) (4-1) - Freshened up since Dec. 29, he finished a wide and even fourth that day racing here at this level and distance. Working both frequently and above average, he has blinkers added and is dangerous.
4th pick: #8 (Marckie's Water) (9-2) - Colt has been on the sidelines for exactly three months. When last in action he checked in a close up fourth that day on the Del Mar turf. Working steadily, he drilled a bullet five furlongs on the local dirt here Jan 4.
