Top pick: #2 (TEDDY'S PROMISE) (2-1) - Veteran has won two of three since coming off a 2 1/2 month layoff in early October and she was a very easy winner of this G2 stakes one year ago. Mare has won 5 of 10 on this surface, is in shape, training fast, and will be tough to beat.
2nd pick: #5 (Socialbug) (9-2) - Very lightly-raced filly by "Curlin" just failed to hold on here on Jan. 2 facing weaker. She set extremely fast fractions, was pressured through out, and was racing off a three month break. In the Baffert barn and a win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Heir Kitty) (3-1) - She always had talent, and last out put it all together when she rallied from close range to win the local "La Brea" stakes (G1) at this distance on Dec. 26. Working fast since and a threat right back.
4th pick: #6 (Scherzinger) (4-1) - Lightly-raced filly sat behind the quick & contested pace set by "Socialbug" and rallied late to best that filly by a 1/2 length on Jan. 2. She's two for three locally and should get another quick pace scenario to close into.
