Top pick: #5 (MECHAYA) - She was an impressive winner when debuting at Del Mar August 15th, then finished third to the undefeated "Executiveprivilege" three weeks later in the (G1) Del Mar Debutante. Working fast locally, like most entered, she's racing on real dirt for the first time. The drills showing indicate that won't be a problem for her.
2nd pick: #2 (Beholder) - Only a nose back in the Del Mar Debutante (G1), she defeated "Mechaya" that afternoon. Lightly-raced and improving, trainer Rick Mandella has her working very fast on this surfacce and she's the probable favorite and a win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Wildcat Angie) - She's the only filly entered who has won on conventional dirt and she did so when breaking her maiden at Churchill on June 8th. Sold privately after that to owner/trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, she has speed/stalking ability and can factor at long odds.
