Top pick: #7 (AWESOME LUCK) (4-1) - Home bred by 'Ghostzapper' showed improvement in her second start when she finished third of nine, beaten just under 3 lengths racing here at this level going 6.5-furlongs April 25th. Lightly-raced 4-year-old has drawn the rail in both appearances and the move off the inside is a big plus.

2nd pick: #4 (Nite Delite) (5-1) - One of five that are making their debuts, daughter of 'War Chant' is in the barn of 'California Chrome's' trainer, veteran Art Sherman. $40K yearling purchase has been working fast at Los Alamitos, including a blazing 5-furlong bullet gate move May 7th.

3rd pick: #3 (Jean Edward) (3-1) - The field's most experience maiden, home bred has finished second in all five dirt sprints. Stalker has done so in all four local outings and enters in shape and working well. Trainer Mike Machowsky adds blinkers in an attempt to get her into the winner's circle.

4th pick: #1 (Annisquam) (10-1) - She tired while chasing the pace while racing between horses when debuting in a turf contest going down the hill here April 19th. Trainer Neil Drysdale has worked her five times since, switches her to the dirt, and adds both Lasix and blinkers. 'Live' long shot.
