2nd pick: #1 (Paved) (4-1) - $320,000 daughter of 'Quality Road' has finished third in both starts and had excuses in each. Away slowly when debuting here Oct. 21, she ran a bit greenly in her follow up Nov. 25 at Del Mar. She worked well above average Dec. 31 and is another that should like this 9 furlong distance.
3rd pick: #12 (Rancor) (5-2) - The probable favorite, she enters off a pace-setting second place finish going a mile on the Del Mar grass Nov. 25. It was her first ever on the grass and she defeated five of today's rivals in the process. An obvious contender.
4th pick: #10 (Temple Princess) (12-1) - Longshot has had difficult outside posts in her last pair after missing by a 'neck' at odds of 41-1 when debuting Sept. 4 at Del Mar. Blinkers go on and she should be finishing fast.
5th pick: #11 (Pacific Strike) (20-1) - She showed some improvement when switched to the grass in her second start and this $300,000 daughter of 'Flatter' may grab a share at a big price
