Filly took some betting action that day and did well following a slow start. Trainer Dave Hoffmans has worked her three times since and the move off the inside is a plus.
2nd pick: #3 (Dixie Dame) (5-2) - Filly tired badly in a Feb. 1 contest common to several others. She races off a positive trainer change to Phil D'Amato and the new barn adds blinkers. Working fast since the switch and a win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Delaney's Joy) (8-1) - She ships down from Golden Gate Fields where she tired going a mile on the synthetic surface there. Filly had a sharp half-mile work here a week ago and think she'll be competitive at a big price.
4th pick: #9 (Gaviota) (30-1) - Longshot has shown nothing in her first pair but is racing with blinkers added. Her last pair of works suggest that she'll improve with the hood on. May grab a share at a very big price.
5th pick: #2 (Gold Locket) (3-1) - Home bred rallied past a group of tired horses to finish a distant 2nd when debuting on Feb. 1. From the same barn (Bruce Headley) as "Gaviota," she's a contender, but will be certainly be over-bet.
