Top pick: #5 (PIONEER CHARLIE) (3-1) - He finished second at this tag on Sept. 20 at Los Alamitos in his first off a claim and a two month break. Son of "Pioneer of the Nile" was virtually eliminated at the break here Oct. 4 in his follow up race and is brought back quickly for this attempt. I like his chances.
2nd pick: #6 (Cernobbio) (5-2) - Dizney home bred raced evenly when finishing fourth here in a large field (13) Sept. 26. He seemed a bit uncomfortable down on the inside and should do much better with the move out in the gate in this small group. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Higher Mandate) (2-1) - He has the best overall "figures" in this field and is cutting back in distance after rallying to finish fourth at this tag going a mile at Los Alamitos Sept. 14. That was his first since early May, and he must be left in the three horse mix.
