Top pick: #9 (GOUX WOULD DO) - $250,000 son of "Speightstown" raced evenly when debuting facing special weights on Feb. 9, then was a very impressive maiden winner a month later when trainer Rick Mandella dropped him into a $20K claimer. Heavily bet that day (3-5), he's come back with a fine half-mile work on March 20th and is nicely spotted and drawn in the gate for his first facing winners.
2nd pick: #7 (Blake) - Lightly-raced 5-year-old finished third of 10, beaten one length when racing here at this level on March 9th. Moves off the rail, is working fast for this, and 5-year-old runs second back off a 7-week freshening.
3rd pick: #5 (Magic Beam) - He did well to finish a close-up fifth last out two lengths back of Blake after having a troubled start. Race was his first in 3 1/2 months and trainer Ed Ina has worked him three times since. Fits, and he has a strong late kick.
