Unraced as a 2yo, she finished a pace-setting 2nd here when debuting on a muddy surface going seven furlongs Jan. 6. Trainer Bob Baffert (27% second time out) has worked her four times since and stretches her out in distance (27%). The day's best bet.
2nd pick: #4 (Amen Sista) (3-1) - Daughter of 'Street Cry' was beaten by three lengths here going long on the grass Feb. 4. In only her second start, trainer Phil D'Amato brings her back quickly, and has her on the dirt for the first time.
3rd pick: #2 (Bernina Star) (2-1) - The morning line favorite, she's been competitive in all but one of her six starts. Stalker is in shape, working fine, and breaks just of the rail. A contender, but not a 'lock' at short odds.
4th pick: #5 (Czarina) (7-2) - Another from the Baffert barn, daughter of 'Bernardini' cost $1,500,000 back in Sept. of 2015. A major 'bust' so far, she has some sharp works on view for her first since Dec. 3. Look for a competitive effort today.
