Claimed that afternoon by Bob Hess Jr., he drops him slightly while shortening this stretch runner-up a 1/16th of a mile. He has a fine local record 4-2-1-0 and is 3-for-4 overall in dirt sprints.
2nd pick: #4 (Quad) (7-2) - He's very quick from the gate and was an easy wire-to-wire winner going 5 furlongs at Los Alamitos Race Course for an $8000 price tag Dec. 13. Although he's facing tougher, his ability to break on top is a plus in this field.
3rd pick: #3 (Older Brother) (3-1) - State bred has been freshened up since Nov. 3 when he raced very poorly here for twice this tag. He was competitive in 3-of-5 prior to that and has been working fast for his return.
4th pick: #6 (Our Tiger's Boy) (10-1) - Longshot has some early speed and races back on following a pair without the 'hood'. His outside post is a plus and think he's capable of factoring at a square price.
