Stretched out to a mile in his follow up there Sept. 1, he tired in the final furlong after setting a pressured pace. He's worked three times since, shortens back up, and Mike Smith stays aboard.
2nd pick: #1 (Chasin Munny) (7-2) - Colt finished a strong third when debuting at Del Mar is the same race as 'K P Indy'. Colt was only a bit more than a length in back of that rival, has worked fast since, and speedy sort has the rail.
3rd pick: #12 (Rip City) (10-1) - A NEW gelding, he finished fifth of 10, beaten just under 4 lengths sprinting at Del Mar Aug. 23. It was a huge move forward off his debut and trainer Rich Baltas is adding blinkers.
4th pick: #10 (Moon Mischief) (5-1) - A Moss home bred by 'Into Mischief', he finished second in a small field (five) debuting at this distance on the dirt at Los Alamitos Sept. 6. He's worked very fast twice since, switches to the turf, and John Sadler adds blinkers.
5th pick: #7 (Smooth Like Strait) (30-1) - Longshot tired after chasing a quick pace debuting at 6 furlongs on the Del Mar dirt Aug. 17. He came back with a bullet half-mile local drill Sept. 22 and is bred to handle the switch to the grass.
